What Does Your Screen Name Say About You?

When Choosing a screen name or an e-mail address we are chosing an ID that will say something about us to those whom we send mail, chat, or even in blogging. When looking at screen names I cannot tell you the numerous times I have seen "69" & "666" thrown into a mix of characters.

Often I have recieved e-mails from people that have changed to a new account where they have incoroperated those digits. Naturally I delete it, because I have no clue who it is from. Honestly, if sending a professional e-mail with an account such as that, would you feel secure with your response back?

Gandering online I came across at site which said:
"The Top 500 AOL Screen Names. ...... 14. Tubby Biotch. 13. FriendofSatan666. 12. Hitler.
11. 2ManyXXX References. These top 10 screen names demand your respect."

Do these screen names REALLY deserve my respect?

I will admit taking pride in my screen names. They all have meaning to what I am about.

AOL: "That Karen Again" meaning: An ex's/ still close friend father didn't care for me too much. Whenever he would come and see me his father would say: "Are you going to see That Karen Again". So the screen name is an inside joke.

E-mail:
Old account- "swimpsycho39" meaning: It was my high school number in swimming. Also teammates claimed I was "psycho" for getting up at 4:30 AM to swim.... hence the name "swimpsycho".

Recent- "claystrung" meaning: I work with clay and the medium itself "strings" (leads) me along through life.

mittens: one day during lunch in 6th grade, I decided I needed an imaginary cat to call my very own, and thus mittens was born. Since then, he's grown quite a bit. He's now a tiger-sized cat who eats tiger-sized meow mix. Some say he's my alter-ego. Some say he's a superhero. I say that he's my imaginary tiger-sized kitty cat.

it was made in the same month and year I was born,
So I'm a Dynosoar too

As to spelling, It has a Dynoglide transmission, and when riding top-down, it's like soaring.....

My name... I think I've said before but what the heck. One of my friends had a dream about me be a captain to a spaceship like the ship from Star Trek. and since he calls me cornbread (i'll explain that part next) he obviously called me Capt. cornbread in his dream. I find it funny so I'll tell you where we went in his dream. Mars, but it looked like earth and we both still said that it was mars. It's funny because I tell him that we're going to mars and I point it out on a map and he accepts it as mars even though we both know it loks exactly like mars. I guess you had to be in the dream.
...Alright. The cornbread thing. I live in a small town where a lot of the guys there are farmers and the one's next to my house are corn farmers. I don't like cornbread even though I basically live with corn and cornbread now. Because I don't like cornbread everyone at my morning High School call my Cornbread unless they call me Capt. cornbread because of the compined cornbread and Capt. stories.
I guess it's kind of odd but I don't know anyone with a name like it so...

Perhaps it is all too obvious....
michael, my first name: given to me by my parents....shortened to mike and "mikey" by some
....and hobbs: an adopted surname (circa 1600's)...given by a step grandfather.......to my grandfather whose name was howard
Thus: Karen Hobbs' name could be Karen Valerie Howard if things were left alone about 350 years ago......smile.......

WrecklessEric came about 30 years ago, at Christmas time, or a birthday (can't remember)

I'd be given a present, and my usual first thing to do with it was run to my room and pull it to pieces, to see how it worked.

I was with my buddies one day, when mum walked into my room and saw all the broken/dismantled toys everywhere. She sighed and said "I wish you'd wreck less Eric, and start looking after your things"

The guys immediately picked up on it, and started calling me WrecklessEric from then on.
If you google wrecklesseric, you'll also find there's an English band called that, but I truly believe it was mine first. I'm happy to share though, as I'm told they're pretty good.

My other online name, Captain Camouflage, is one I use rarely these days... it was a character I used to pretend to be when I was a kid. I may revive it one day

Mine is quite unimaginative. It's my first name and initial of my last name. simple as that. I like being myself whether online or irl. never cared for putting on a front or 'alternate ego'. just me.

all of my email addresses are my name in one variation or another. underscores between them, name and initial, etc... just being me

This is kinda dumb, but I'm an american who's been stuck in Canada for many years.

When I first arrived, I refused to acclimate myself. Napkins are 'serviettes'; bathrooms are 'washrooms'; a coffee with two creams and two sugers is a 'double-double'; a case of beer is a 'two-four'; american cheese is 'processed cheese'; Jimmy isn't in second grade, he's in 'grade two'; 'hydro' isn't weed, it's electricity; if i say 'soda' instead of 'pop', I'm being nostalgic. These aren't big differences, but it was enough at the time to make me homesick.

Besides, I really dig that Tom Petty song.

Mr_Frog is just a variation on a nick name that was given to me when I was about three years old. There's an old show called "The Little Rascals". You know, Buckwheat et al. Well, I used to look exactly like Froggie on that show. The nickname stuck, although few people call me Frog in real-life (some still do to get my attention when I'm not listening). I've grown older now, so I felt that I needed to be a Mr.

I think because we have Jane does, Jane goes with John, not Joe. Therefore, Jill is the perfect complement to Joe. Look out, Jack! (Unless you were Jennifer, but maybe that's just a popular name where I'm from.)

Shulamite -- for those of you who know your Bible, you got the reference I'm sure. It's to Song of Solomon. I'm a great romantic and I love this book in the Bible. I'm surprised when people mistake me for a "he" seeing as how Solomon's queen was a shepherdess rather than a shepherd... (The Shulamite.) : ) So I'm just a romantic who's doing things by the Book -- it seemed appropo. Great article! I enjoyed y'all's responses!
