Corks of Cotton...
Published on February 16, 2004 By Does it matter In Blogging
I did my grocery shopping this weekend. I hate grocery shopping, I mean I really hate it. I am one of those people who like to try new recipes, but I have my basics a usually stick to. Since this my Aunt Flo is coming this week I decided to stock up on useless shit, which I will never eat after the week is over. Of course I grab for the classic pickles, and then off the pretzels & Dill Dip. Yeah, I was loading the cart.... next was the hummus, pita bread, soy-milk..... yes, gotta get the frickin' soy. Then I saw that Little Debbie had a new One Dozen Box of Oatmeal Cream Pies. Oh, Christ! Yes, Debbie had to come home and keep me company while Flo was paying her visit. At this point there was no stopping.... I was living my dream of being on Supermarket Sweep! Yes, I wanted the Jolly Green Giant worth $250, and a chance to run the big sweep! I was piling in the corks of cotton at $4.95 each, but this time there was no limit of 5. I only needed two. Let's not forget the Aleve at $10.00 each.... and yes, Bob I took my limit of 5. While whizzing through the peanut butter aisle I came to a screeching halt.... Nutella .... I want Nutella... I want to eat it with pretzels, a spoon, on toast, but not on fruit. It was in reach with the exception of this lady and her two whiney kids fighting over which flavor Goober they wanted. This went on which seemed like an eternity. I felt like saying: "Here is the $2.50 to buy the other jar." Then I thought back to childhood, when my mother wanted something off the shelf and the lady wouldn't move. At that time I simply said: "Move your ass lady". But I couldn't do that... I am an adult now *damn*. So, I quietly reserved myself and grabbed what Aunt Flo desired.
I will admit I am one of those people who cannot wait to dive into the grocery bag until home. While leaving the Kroger lot I said hello to Little Debbie and about five of her friends. And life was good.
