Mindless Babbel From a Mindfull Artist....
From the Mudd Slinger to the Blow-Hard....

As I promised...
Here I told you why Ceramics is Dirty, why not bring on the innuendos of Glass Blowing. If one were to walk into a hot-shop, and never been around one before... you may begin to think the Glass artist had their mind in the gutter. Well they don't... well... maybe. They are just using common everyday lingo around the studio.

1) Were else can you "Paddle a hot bottom" to make it smooth.
2) "Jacking" is done quite often, and is needed to break your piece off the rod.
3) Keeping your piece in the "Glory Hole" too long will cause it to go limp and lose its form.
4) The harder you blow the bigger your bubble will expand.
5) You need to swing it around to make it longer.
6) "Flashing" about 4 times is necessary.
7) Having an assistant to blow, while you jack your piece is good when working large.

Finally where else can you be a blow-hard and get away with it, but in a glass shop.

I thought the Ceramics List was good, but this is outright funny. Are all these terms used in Glass- Blowing?
